How to easily remove or correct green color cast in Photoshop

As a photographer, you will at some point experience color cast on your images, meaning a dominate color is reflected onto your objects. If you take pictures of horses grazing on pasture or around trees, you might have a lot of unwanted green projected onto your horse's body or on other parts of the image.

It is much more visual on lighter colored horses then darker, but it is still there. When you then continue with your edits, it will become even more visual. The one thing you don't want is to give a distorted colored print to your client!

I did increase the exposure on these images to make it more visible.

Here is a VERY EASY solution to this problem. There are various other options within Lightroom or Photoshop, but this is the fastest with the best results.

1. Open your image in Photoshop and create a background copy.

2. Go to FILTER: Blur- Gaussian Blur

3. Select the Range of pixels. I usually pick a number between 6-9, depending how bad it is.

4. Go over to your Blending Modes and select COLOR.

Et voila....the green cast is gone!

The color blending mode preserves the luminosity of your base layer, but adopts the hue and saturation of the blend layer.
